Fried rice

Let's make some awesome fried rice! It's like a kitchen magic trick – turning leftovers into a brand new, yummy meal!

What you'll need:

  • 2 cups of leftover cooked rice (cold rice works best!)

  • 1 cup of leftover veggies (like peas, carrots, corn, bell peppers, onions, anything goes!)

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce

  • 1 tablespoon of cooking oil (like vegetable or sesame oil)

  • Optional: a sprinkle of green onions or sesame seeds for topping

Let's get cooking!

  1. Prep your veggies: If your veggies are big, chop them into smaller pieces.

  2. Heat the oil: Put your pan or wok on the stove and turn the heat to medium-high. Add the oil and let it heat up for a few seconds.

  3. Cook the veggies: Add your leftover veggies to the pan and cook them for 2-3 minutes, stirring them around so they don't burn.

  4. Scramble the eggs: Push the veggies to one side of the pan. Crack the eggs into the empty space and scramble them with a spatula until they're cooked.

  5. Add the rice: Now, add your leftover rice to the pan and mix everything together. Break up any big clumps of rice with your spatula.

  6. Add the soy sauce: Pour the soy sauce over the rice and veggies. Stir everything together so the rice gets coated in the soy sauce.

  7. Cook it up: Keep stirring and cooking for a few more minutes until the rice is hot and everything is mixed really well.

  8. Serve it up: Take your fried rice off the stove and put it into bowls. If you have green onions or sesame seeds, sprinkle them on top for extra flavor and decoration.

  9. Enjoy!

Tips and Tricks:

  • If you like spicy food, you can add a little bit of sriracha or chili flakes to your fried rice.

  • You can also add cooked meat, like chicken or shrimp, to your fried rice.

  • If you have a wok, that is the ideal pan to use, but any wide pan will work.

  • Cold rice is best, as it will help prevent the rice from getting mushy.

Have fun making your delicious fried rice!
